Adelaide Campervan Hire
Adelaide, the city of the churches, is located in South Australia. The climate is very warm in the winter with the heat being increased by the warm winds from the deserts in Middle Australia. In the winter the temperatures can drop quite significantly due to the Antarctic winds from the South.
Once you book your campervan hire in Adelaide, you have the opportunity to tour the Fleurieu Peninsula, south of Adelaide. If you book your motorhome during whale season (July to September each year) you can watch whales and their calves play in the ocean from the shores. Travel 80 km from Adelaide and take in the glorious Victor Harbour where you can visit the South Australian Whale Centre, with interactive sea life displays and hints and tips on whale watching.
At the Deep Creek Conservation Park you can try a variety of experiences. Take advantage of your campervan rental in the spectacular bushland with kangaroos and other native wildlife or hike one of numerous trails that take in stunning coastal views of Kangaroo Island - all just a 90 minute-drive from Adelaide.
Australia is now famous all over the world for producing excellent wine – and the Adelaide area has an abundance of wine producing regions of Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills and Clare Valley. These areas host some of the finest vineyards in Australia including Wolf Blass, Penfolds, Peter Lehman, Jacob’ s Creek, Yalumba and many more equally popular brands.
You can choose to visit the wine regions either in your holiday campervan or pick up one of the many popular tours. Adelaide is the pivotal place for touring the South Australia wineries. Visit the established wineries, see the vineyards and get to know how the grapes are ripened and transformed into the refreshing wines. If you ask nicely you can sample the excellent choice of produce, and also purchase specific vintages (perhaps unavailable elsewhere) - but a word of warning - take care not to drink and drive!
The roads around Adelaide are perfect for travelling in your campervan. Apart from the major inter state road network (Adelaide connects to Melbourne in the east to Perth in the West), the main urban network around Adelaide is both modern and easy to understand. In recent years however the road network is beginning to creak a little, due to the number of cars on the road, so make sure you plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to complete your journey.
Take care when driving your campervan. The speed limit in Australia is 40 – 60 Km per hour within towns, and between 80 and 100 Km per hour on motorways.
