So you've arranged to hire a campervan in London, but depending on the time of day you may just want to bed down for the night instead of hitting the UK's highways and byways.

The nearest campsite to the centre of London is at Theobalds Park, in Hertfordshire and is approximately 15 miles away. It is an excellent spot to park the campervan and catch a train from Waltham Cross into London City Centre. With a children's play area and a dog walking service, there is every facility that the holidaymaker needs.

On the banks of the River Thames you can park at the Chertsey campsite, again very close to London with a 30 minute train ride.

It is also perfectly placed to visit some of England's most popular theme parks including Lego Land, Thorpe Park and Chessington.

Slightly further out is the Hertford camping site. With 250 pitches, the site offers many amenities including washing machines and driers, dish washing facilities, a play park and dog walking facilities.

Take the train into London from Hertford East or venture to nearby attractions such as Knebworth House, Paradise Wildlife Park and Waltham Abbey

Next on our list is Kelvedon Hatch, in the heart of Essex - handy for a day trip into the city or a day at the coast at Southend.
